Basic functions, you get what you pay for... beware
Piece of junk - better off spending $50-60 more for something that isn’t so fragile and one that might be more “user friendly “. ‘Printer said it was jammed. I removed the paper easily and thought the machine would reset. It kept saying there was a jam but there was nothing in the machine. I turned off the machine and it still said there as a jam in it. Looked again and found nothing in the printer and I knew I only had the last 3 pieces of paper that I had. I took it to be a malfunction and this returned it to Amazon before the return policy ended. I will not recommend purchasing this machine.PREVIOUS REVIEW: You get what you pay for and I certainly felt that I should return this printer to Amazon because it wasn’t quite what I thought I was getting. First of all, it’s not that easy to set up. Bluetooth set up easily but getting the WiFi connected was a headache. The directions (which have QR codes to open further instructions) make it look so easy. There are also YouTube videos to help you set it up. Finally, I asked a computer savvy family member to help me set it up. He got it working within about 15 minutes but commented that it was confusing and onerous. It doesn’t have a touch screen (and to be honest, it DOESN’T say it has one on the website) so you have to use arrows and an OK button to navigate the setup screen. It was kind of a pain in the derrière having to use the arrows and cursor to alphabetically enter my password - I guess I’m just used to iPhone/iPad technology. It’s really limited as far as what you can do - for example, I wanted to shrink a return label for a different Amazon return. It printed out a full page so I scanned it. I had a choice of full size, 94% or 25% (which was way too small). I suppose I could keep reducing it but what a waste of expensive ink and paper. Speaking of ink, it comes with both color and black ink cartridges but they are not full size and I expect them to run out quickly. Fortunately I had read other reviews claiming that the starter ink cartridges are limited in volume and ordered ink from a remanufacturer. (Supposedly remanufactured ink will work as long as they have a current chip in them. We shall see. I haven’t tried the ink as of this review and will review those on their site). I’d recommend that you order replacement ink cartridges at the time you order this printer. The printer comes with 4 - 4 X 6 glossy photo paper sheets which I tried and the quality of the printed photo was excellent. I wish I had ordered photo paper along with my printer order - I was that impressed (and it’s not that expensive). I used the starter Canon ink for the photo and will see if remanufactured ink does as good of a job. It takes almost a minute to turn on and off and to initialize once a print job has been sent. Printing, once it has started, is fairly quick. There is a quiet setting but the machine is not that noisy. Like I said, I almost returned this printer because it was so limited on what it can do which I didn’t gather (but should have) from the website description... I erroneously thought it would do more than it does. I decided to keep it since it does the basics (print from my iPhone and iPad wirelessly, make decent photos, copy, scan, and print double sided pages) and $45 is pretty cheap for a basic all-in-one printer. Yes, this is a BASIC machine. Don’t expect anything deluxe like machines in larger offices or the UPS Store. The machine appears to be somewhat fragile with thin plastic pieces (trays and back paper support) and I don’t think it will hold up to any abuse. Everything tucks nicely into the body of the machine though, for storage or when not in use. For someone who doesn’t need to make a lot of copies/photos it is a decent machine but I wouldn’t recommend it if you make a lot of copies/photos... spend the extra money and get a better machine. Return was made and I haven’t heard anything from Amazon. Finally, I decided to spend a little more on the canon PIXMA TS8320. What a difference! So much higher quality. Amazon was selling this for about $130-140. I ordered it and 2 days later, found that the price had been lowered - $30! I tried to settle with Amazon to honor the lower price and they had a policy saying they couldn’t as they change their prices up to the minute for better deals. So I canceled the order. Luckily it was within their cancellation period. I think it’s wrong of Amazon not to honor the lower price when you haven’t even received the item and with me, it was 2 days since my order. Their loss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy and easy setup!
Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2020
Very glad I didn’t base my purchase off of the other reviews!!

    Flimsy Paper Tray
The comments about the flimsy paper tray ... not really sure what those are about. I guess if you’re planning on transporting this thing all over the place, then that might be accurate, but if you plan on leaving in one location, there are no concerns. It doesn’t hold a lot of paper, but then again, it’s not designed to do hundreds of copies at once.

    Connection/Setup
I connected this printer to my iPhone 10, chromebook I have for work, and a MacBook we have at home. The entire setup process, from getting the printer out of box, all three devices connected, and printer in its “spot”, took about an hour. Downloading the Canon app, it’s free by the way, and getting it setup is included in the timeframe. There are bits of the instructions that I got a little confused on, but once I got going, it was pretty easy and painless.

    Scanning
I have NOT been able to try this feature out yet as I haven’t gotten the cord as it doesn’t not come with one.

    Printing
I’m amazed at how easy it is to print from my phone and the other devices!! Quality is very satisfactory!

Overall, VERY satisfied with this purchase!
